Why I get out of bed every morning.

because someone needs my help.. as a jw -- you can relate -- i truly believed that what everyone really needed was the kingdom hope and its eventual reality.

you know, the hope that does not lead to disappointment.

of course, if anyone needed practical help with a task or getting through some difficulty, most of us realized that was part of being a helpful and caring friend (or family member).. at nearly seventy years of age -- no, i didn't enter the promised kingdom in my healthful and vibrant youth -- my getting out of bed isn't so bad.

I'm so happy to have seen your post before shutting down and heading to work. Fortunately, my old man's work load is such that I do get time for rest, relaxation, contemplation.

Why I'm rejoining the JWs

dear brothers and sisters.

after many years outside of the truth, living as an atheist, i have come to realise that i have been on the wrong path.

the fool has said in his heart that there is no god, and i have been a fool.

I remember the experience of some pioneers who had no food; they were so busy speaking Jehovah's name they had no time to work and earn money, no time to cook a meal even if they had food.

They went home from a joyous day in service, their bellies gnawed with hunger. A sudden downpour of rain occurred -- there wasn't a cloud in the sky -- and as they approached their humble abode, a surge of water ran down the street's gutter, carrying along a cabbage and a bunch of carrots.

Makes me think of dear Sister Scarlett, whose words are an inspiration:

"As God is my witness, as God is my witness, they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill."

Healing

i feel an unfamiliar restlessness in my lower body.

too long have i been confined to my sickbed; my mind and heart coax me arise and gaze upon the world outside.

it is no longer a matter of fighting long-entrenched despair.

I hadn't thought of it specifically, but the unkindness shown through the cyber bullying by the once "happiest people on earth" bewilders me. Likewise, the "experts" and "authorities" on every subject discussed and argued here baffle me with their tenacity -- "I must have the last word!"

I know of no solution but that one should walk quietly and speak one's truth.

WTBTS – assistance following an incident at bethel

i haven’t posted for quite a while as i needed a break – although i have been lurking.. can anyone confirm if the wtbts give assistance to someone who has been involved in an incident whilst working at bethel and, as a result, must leave?.

the reason i’m asking is that, back in the 80’s, i knew a sister who was in bethel service.

she was assigned to the cleaning department.

But a judge's ruling this week that she is entitled to worker's compensation payments could end up costing the church millions of dollars.

Brenda Upton and her husband, Michael, took a vow of poverty and moved to the Witnesses' Brooklyn headquarters in 1998 to work as chiropractors for other church members.
